This is a biography of San Francisco entrepreneur and activist Alan Selby, founder of the iconic Mr. S Leather. The first part of the book is the author telling the store of Selby’s immigration from London to San Francisco and the process of establishing his now famous leather business, Mr. S Leather.
The second part of the book is autobiographical, constructed from Selby's own journals. I really loved both the details of the tawdry sexual activity of this era, and the narrative of his experience going through the AIDS epidemic in SF.
